Re: NZB TV v1.01, Episode downloader and more. (Windows)
« Reply #30 on: October 16, 2007, 05:39:09 PM »

"When adding two versions of the same show, it would make the overview
easier I think to create two separate knots under the same show name
knot or maybe a little comment after the show name like Lost (350MB)
and Lost (1100MB)."

The way NZB-TV handles data currently does not allow that.
The title is part of the search you see. So changing that to Lost (100) would not work very well.
So Uhm.. No can do :)

"Presenting the shows in alphabetical order is very important if you have more than 20 shows I think. Like suggested by someone else before"

In the v1.01 currently latest version available.

"How does NZB TV handle proper or repack versions?
Does it differentiate the episode only by its title or also by its nfo file or file size (excluding the pars of course)"

Yes, titles only.
The size it uses is the one reported by Newzbin and i'm pretty sure that includes the PARs.

"It would also be nice to limit the newsgroup channel as well.
I usually don't want to have the file from channels like a.b.superman, but rather only from a.b.multimedia or a.b.tv"

That data is actually available i think.
I don't want to make the Add Title too complex and i don't realy see a good reason to distinguish on news group names.

"It would be nice to see some more information about the decision process NZB TV is making.
Like which newzbin posts it had to choose from and which one it has chosen.
Or the nfo file name. The msgid would be nice to have, maybe under the Downloaded tag in the titles.xml file?"

No deep logic is behind the matching.
It will just get the first episode it finds that matches the attributes and size you specified.

"A default "Add Title" would be convinient to specify.
I often forget to change the upper ep no. to 24 instead the default 12.
And Right-Click -> "Edit" a season would make the editing process easier, as well"

Yes, this however would be limited to the title only as a single season can contain titles with different attributes and sizes.

"Maybe an import button to import Series from a text file in a csv format or something similar would be nice. Like: show_name,start_season,end_season,start_episode,end_episode,attribute,min_size,max_size,add_option for example"

Don't realy see the use for that.
Are there sites providing that sort of information about shows youc an then use to import?

"Some cream on top: When specifiing a certain show with attributes it would be great to be able to add a "fallback" type. Let's say I want to have the 720p version, but if it is not available after a week of the release it should download the hr version instead."

Yes, this fallback is not realy possible with current internal data-structure of NZB-TV and would require a lot of code to be changed.
Same goes for the 1st question. When the data-format internally changes these things will be possible.
Not anytime soon though.

Ability to ignore certain groups

Ability to ignore certain groups

I had another thought about that, i can make it so YOUR exclusions, the ones you have set on the newzbin site, are used.
That means if you ignore a.b.m.Superman.tv or what have you then it will never get eps from there.

This would have to be added though.
And it would be a setting, so applies to all searches.
Would that be helpfull?

pwvliet & Soudlous
Both errors i think i already addressed in the version i am releasing now.
At least both messages look very familiar.
I just -seconds ago- released v1.01
Can i ask both of you to get that latsest version, v1.01?
If the problem persists then please let me have your TITLES.XML
That XML file contains all your titles.

I test on a Dutch windows version as well  ;D

Version 1.01 works again!
Thank you very much.
As for you being Dutch, I've noticed a lot of people working on these sort of projects are Dutch. Guess we're pretty much fed up with the way our series are treated over here :-P

Oh, since I have you here, one little feature I would like to add (if at all possible):
I used to download my nzbs through a firefox plugin. Sabnzbd then takes care of the download, and put the finished result in the category it was from. For tv shows, that would be TV. When I download through NZB TV, the shows get put in the general download folder, meaning my directory structure gets messed up. Is there anyway to grab the nzbs including the Category?
Either way, thanks for a terrific piece of software!

This was actually how i first set up this program.
AFAIK The behaviour you describe can only be done if you 'feed' the PostID's to Sabnzb.
SabNZB then gets the NZB or data from the Newzbin Website.

Some Sabs out there use DirectNZB.
that code does not respect the 5-a-minute limit DirectNZB has.
When Sabnzb using the DirectNZB, the new V3 method, does i will re-enable that method and make it an option again.

Reason not to:
Sabnzb using newsbin v3: If you have 10 PostID's and you pass them to Sabnzb it will loose the last 5.
Sabnzb using newsbin v2: When using quota (Original Sabnzb 1.2.5) it can still loose posts if the quota you have is exceeded. 350 a week currently.

I don't want to build in a timer myself because that's not fool proof since other programs (Sabtab, LeetTV e.g.)  can also call Sabnzb in that manner.

So I have temporarily removed that functionality because i don't want people to think it's my program that makes it dissapear.

You can prefic the NZB file with the category name though. (See preferencs in the "Where to save NZB's" panel

That could help a bit, if it's not too much work.

I guess what I miss the most is the ability to download the proper versions on top of the previous versions, but not any of those versions twice. This could be done by checking the file names of the post or easier: by comparing the nfo file names.
Many of those channels like a.b.superman don't post nfo files so this could even filter out those non-official groups by adding an option like "Download same file series/season/episode when the nfo file is different".

About the enhanced logging: It would be nice to see a bit more if it doesn't work like I think it should. Then I could maybe look at the rss feed url and the return xml file and try to understand why it is not matching the episode in question. Assuming you actually use rss feeds under the hood. It's even not that easy to find that post, that got chosen for download since I can't see the msgid of that post.

Is the program actually searching newzbin directly or using the Leet TV site?

The change is suggested is fairly easy and not intrusive in the code, that's why i suggested it :D (Did  that just now, will be in next release)

The 'proper' considerations are based on things currently not used in the matching.

Advanced logging is not something i want to bother users with, it will only confuse most people.
It does use the RSS and if someone has problems i will just run the titles locallly here to test and see what happens.

As the message ID goes, it's in the queue.. until processed :/
I had thought about adding it to the history, i will do that. Just add it between () after it. (Did  that just now, will be in next release)

Just installed 1.01 - looks great!

Only one very minor issue:  whenever I minimize the program (to the tray), this "Click to open" box pops up, pointing at the system tray icon for NZBTV, that I have to manually click to get rid of every time -- I think that at most this should only appear the very first time the user minimizes the program (and then never again)!

Code says 2.5 seconds and it should close itself.
My code is correct though.
Stupid Windows just decides not to hideit sometiems, and not to show other times.

Changed to 1.5 seconds.
Making it do it only once per run might be proper. Implmented for next version.

Is your TaskBar always visible or do you hava auto-hide enabled?

I now have 3 sources reporting it works with Mono.
Haven't tested it myself but i'd say give it a go if you use some form of unix.

I have auto-hide enabled for my taskbar -- and even if the pop-up disappears after a few seconds on its own, it still messes with auto-hide in an annoying way...  Making it so it only pops up once per program run would be much better.  Or maybe even an option allowing users to disable it completely -- I don't have any need for such a reminder: I'm certainly am not going to forget that I can click on the icon to make the program open!

One other thing I just noticed in the new version:  the "Presets" for ep #s are now  "6, 7, 8, 9" -- what they were before was better.

Choko:
Values
Yes, it's a bug, the values are from design time, if you switch back and forth once between TV:Dvds and TV:Episodes there are better values.

Tray
The Hide bug is annoying, i also use autohide on one machine.
Maybe i just remove the balloon all together.
Seems to be giving more problems than it's worth.

New Support for shows reported with dates build - not yet available
I just added support for daily shows :)
Still have to test a while, see if it's all stillworking ok.
Let's you downoad shows that are reported on newzbin with dates.
Like the Daily Show.

I'm afraid I've found a rather large bug. One that messes up the searches. It seems that, if your list of episodes to check is rather long, it won't search for everything.

Today I noticed that the latest Numb3rs episodes wasn't downloaded - despite being able to manually find it on newzbin. I tried to find the reason for this behaviour - and I guess I have.
When I manually search at newzbin, while NZB TV is searching newzbin too I get an error that states I must wait an amount of seconds before I can search again.  My guess is that you didn't know there was a search-limit, and therefore didn't implement anything in your software to handle this error.

(newzbin search error)(screenshot of nzb tv - that hasn't downloaded Numb3rs - 4x04, despite of updating)
