Hi all,
I came across a weird issue and I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same problems. I'm a networking guy so I find ways to get usenet access pretty easy. I've build myself a GRE tunnel from my router to an ISP (not my own ISP) and now I can use their newsservers because they think I'm in their IP space.
It has been working for a year or so but last week it stopped. After some sniffing around on the traffic my Synology with Sabnzb spit out I found out that it had to be an MTU issue. This because from my laptop I could easily download from the same newsserver without a problem. It seemed as if sabnzb was having issues getting the packets through the tunnel. After adjusting the MSS down to 1260 it started working again. So now my tunneltraffic is shaped down to 1260 MSS. Not bad but I'm curious if anyone else has had the same problem. I'd figure there'd be some pretty handy guys around here who might be doing a similar thing. So basically if you're just using your main internet connection to leech then there's nothing to it. If you start pulling fancy tunneling trics (perhaps with ipsec also) then you might run into problems...
Would be nice to hear from you...
