multiple newsprovider downloading
« on: February 25, 2009, 09:03:44 AM »

hi,

i have 3 different newsprovider, one has a rentention up to 70, one up to 190days and one up to 250days but is a limited 45GB account.

I'm looking for a newsreader that can handle multiple provider AND download only from a newsprovider if the files are available.

so if I use newsleecher and dl a file older than 100days -- provider #1 with 70d rentention shouldn't be use, so i DONT get broken files.

i hope you get what I meant to say.

thx so far

if I understand your needs correctly, sabnzbd http://www.sabnzbd.org/ allows multiple backup servers in addition to your primary server(s).  Ninan http://www.ninan.org/modules/news/ also works the same.

essentially the primary server will always be used, but if the file is missing, the program will use your backup server to download

I used to do this in Newsleecher back in the day. Used UNS primarily and had a Giganews block account I used for fills only.

If using nNewsleecher just setup your providers as normal but set your fill account's priority to "02" or "03" or whatever it is depending on your situation, then it will only download something if provider "01" is missing that part.
