Yeah i think he means that if a giganews reseller offers 200 days at a much reduced cost, then giganews themselves will have to either increase retention again or drop their prices to separate themelves from their resellers and make them seem better value.

So recent Astraweb converts, what is the general consensus?? I've been with Giganews for almost 7 years now, but am seriously considering switching to Astraweb, the pricing looks great. How are the U.S. servers? Completion? Retention? Speed?

I've been with them for about a month here in the US.
Completion is good so far, very few issues, with the rare ones the pars fix the rars well.
Retention is now officially 180 days (growing to 270), haven't tried much around that older age though.
Speed - consistent 1.5 MB/sec with a comcastic connection (can get ~5 MB/sec with comcast burst speeds)

I'm satisfied so far.  Not so much with comcast, I've finally installed Tomato firmware for the router to monitor all bandwidth.

I'm gonna give them a shot for the 3 month deal. I canceled my Giganews acct. today but its good till 3/4/2009. I've been hearing good things about Astraweb.

So far so good, They are maxing out my ISP line. Free SSL. This is going to save me $20/mo. Every little bit helps these days, that's a case of beer.  ;D
